Owls in Autumn

Program begins inside the nature center for an up-close experience with our resident owls followed by a hike on the trail in search of our local species. Suitable for ages 8 and up. 6-8pm. $12/member, $15/non-member. This program will fill up! Advanced registration required.

Gift Wrapping Event at Barnes and Noble @ Barnes and Noble

Join Cedar Run staff and volunteers at Moorestown’s Barnes and Noble’s (1311 Nixon Drive, Moorestown) gift wrapping event. We will be on hand all day assisting you with gift wrapping your purchases. An ambassador or two may make an appearance as well!

Winter Solstice Owl Prowl

Winter is the perfect time for owl spotting. Join us on the shortest day of the year–Winter Solstice–for a fun Owl Prowl at Cedar Run! Program begins at the nature center. Begins at 4:30-6:00pm. $12/adult, $10/child. Suitable for ages 8 and up. Advanced registration required.

Enjoy a special day of programs at the refuge. We will present Hunters of the Sky at 11am and 1pm. Kids can also make a special holiday craft inside the nature center. All ages welcome. Program included with the price of admission.

Dine & Donate at Runway Cafe @ Runway Cafe

Join us for a “Dine & Donate” to support Cedar Run at the Runway Cafe (South Jersey Regional Airport, 68 Stacy Haines Rd., Lumberton, NJ) from 8am-4pm. Some of our resident wildlife will make an appearance throughout the day too!

Our dedicated volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the organization!

Join us to learn valuable skills while helping us accomplish our mission. Volunteer opportunities at the refuge include:

  • Helping care for wildlife
  • Helping with educational programs
  • Greeting visitors at our Nature Center
  • Staffing at festival special events
  • Fundraising
  • Building and repairing wildlife enclosures
  • General office work
  • Event planning

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and attend a “Volunteer Information Session.” Volunteer Information Sessions are typically held just before the arrival of our wildlife babies in January, February and March. Dates for 2020 are January 18th, February 22nd, and March 14th, 2020. Sign-ups can be made below.

**NOTE: Volunteers will be asked to pay a one-time non-refundable application fee. Volunteers UNDER 18 will be asked to pay

$20 this fee supports staff time and resources associated with processing and training. Please note: Submission of a volunteer application and application fee does not guarantee a volunteer position at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.

Volunteers 18 AND OVER will be asked to pay $40, this fee covers the cost of a criminal background check and supports staff time and resources associated with training and processing. This is a criminal history only check, not a credit check. Our insurance mandates this check because we have groups of children on the premises year round. Please note: Submission of a volunteer application and application fee does not guarantee a volunteer position at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.

Please DO NOT call about volunteer opportunities. Our coordinator also works in the hospital and is usually caring for our wildlife!

Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge does not host police or court ordered community service hours. We do appreciate all types of service, but our status as an education facility prohibits our organization from hosting police or court ordered community service.

POP-UP Guided Nature Walk

Join the new Executive Director Dennis Miranda on an enjoyable leisurely hike of one of the Refuge’s nature trails. Explore the varied habitats from the dry Pitch Pine forest to the moisture-loving Atlantic White Cedars. Learn of the birds and animals that call Cedar Run home. Find out how you can help protect the wonderful wilderness of the New Jersey Pine Barrens! Bring sturdy walking shoes, dress in layers, make sure you have a water bottle and your binoculars (some loaners will be available). 10:30 am-12 pm. Suitable for ages 5 and up. Free with the cost of admission. Maximum registrants: 20, on a first come first serve basis. Rain cancels the event.

Mini BioBlitz for World Wildlife Day

On this World Wildlife Day, join us as we welcome the return of warmer weather by participating in this fun bio survey! Download the iNaturalist app to your phone, or bring a digital camera and upload the pictures to iNaturalist.com later. How many different species can you find at Cedar Run? Ongoing from 9am-5pm.
