Please join us on Sunday, 12/17/2023 for the Christmas Bird Count! This will be Audubon’s 124th Christmas Bird Count, where all across the world, people gather to count birds! This count data will then go towards conservation efforts to help the wildlife in your area!

All birding levels are welcome! Please bring your friends and family to come together as a team, or come by yourself!
Self-guided – Participants will be given a quick intro when they arrive and then sent on the trails to count on their own. Tally sheets will be available 10am-4pm and we will have loaner binoculars to borrow.
Prefer to have guide? New for 2024, join us on a guided hike at 7am, 11am or 1pm. Hike lasts approximately 1-hour. 15 participants maximum. No pre-registration needed – first come, first served.

First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of free, guided hikes will be organized in all 50 states. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park. Enjoy a guided hike under the darkness of the new moon to visit nocturnal habitats that are home to owls, raccoons, opossums and other wildlife that emerge after dark. Be there as the ‘night shift’ awakens. Program begins at the Nature Center. Hike is approximately 1 mile. 5:00-6:30pm. ADULTS ONLY! $15/person. 20 participants maximum. Advanced registration required.

Winter is often the best time of the year to locate owls in the forest as they are in the midst of nesting season. Program begins at the Outdoor Pavilion (with heaters!) for an up-close experience with our resident owls followed by a hike on the trail in search of our local species. Please dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. No flashlights, please. 5:00-6:30pm. Suitable for ages 8 and up. $15/adult, $10/child. Advanced registration required. This program will fill up!
