Our volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the organization! Join us to learn valuable skills while helping us to accomplish our mission.
Volunteer opportunities at the refuge include:
- helping to care for the wildlife
- helping with educational programs
- greeting visitors at our Nature Center
- staffing at festival special events
- building & repairing animal enclosures
- general office work
- event planning
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and attend a "volunteer information session." Volunteer information sessions are typically held just before the arrival of our wildlife babies. During the summer and fall months, we train volunteers on an as needed basis. In 2015, the orientation sessions will be held on the following Sundays: January 18 (SESSION FULL), February 15 (SESSION FULL), and March 15 (SESSION FULL). All sessions will be at 2:00 PM in the Nature Center. Orientation sessions will cover volunteer opportunities and scheduling.
Please RSVP for a specific session or e-mail Volunteer Coordinator, Sara Walsh. Please DO NOT call about volunteer opportunities. Our coordinator also works in the hospital and is usually caring for our wildlife!
**NOTE: Volunteers, 18 and older, will be asked to pay $15 for a background check and provide two references. This is a criminal history only check, not a credit check. Our insurance mandates this check because we have groups of children on the premises year round.
For scout projects, e-mail Director of Education, Denise Peters, or leave a message at 856-983-3329 x103.
