Owl Prowl
Feb 18 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Winter is often the best time of the year to locate owls in the forest as they are in the midst of nesting season. Program begins at the Outdoor Pavilion (with heaters!) for an up-close experience with our resident owls followed by a hike on the trail in search of our local species. Please dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. No flashlights, please. 5:30-7:30pm. Suitable for ages 8 and up. $15/adult, $10/child. Advanced registration required. This program will fill up!

Wildlife Tracking 101

This fun and informative program will help you review the basics of animal tracking in the wild. 1-2:30pm. All ages welcome. $15/non-member adult, $10/non-member child (ages 4-12), members and ages 3 and under free. 20 participants maximum. Pricing includes refuge admission. Join one our Educators for this weekly leisurely hike of one of the Refuge’s nature trails. Explore the varied habitats from the dry Pitch Pine forest to the moisture-loving Atlantic White Cedars. Learn of the animals that call Cedar Run home. Find out how you can help protect the wonderful wilderness of the New Jersey Pine Barrens! Bring sturdy walking shoes, dress in layers, and bring a water bottle. 2:00 start. Runs approximately 1 hour. Free with the cost of admission. Maximum participants: 15, on a first come first serve basis. Rain cancels the event.

Come out for an Junior Owl Prowl focused on our youngest owl enthusiasts! This program is geared toward children pre-K through 2nd grade (with an adult), but older siblings are welcome to join too. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in a Wildlife Hospital? Are you curious about what goes into the process of rehabilitating injured and/or orphaned wild animals? Now is your chance to go behind-the-scenes and find out! Join one of our state licensed wildlife rehabilitators for brunch (bagels, doughnuts, coffee and tea) followed by an in-depth discussion and tour of our Wildlife Hospital and outdoor rehabilitation enclosures. These facilities are not open to the general public – this is a rare opportunity to tour them with a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Pricing is $50 per person. This experience is geared for ages 15 and up only. Face masks are required for the duration of the program except when eating.
