Sustainability Exhibit

Visit us in our Exhibit Room this month to learn all about sustainability. What does it mean to be sustainable? How can you be more sustainable in your daily life? AND we will have some special guests visiting us this month to talk about sustainable practices.

Join us:

-Sunday, February 18th at 10:30. Catie and Ian from Garden State Compost will have a table in our Nature Center.

-Sunday, February 25th from 10am-12pm. Tina Solak from the Refill Market will have a table in our Nature Center.

Come on out and learn with us! Exhibit is free with admission. Open 10am-4pm daily.

You and Me Preschool
Feb 14 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Our You and Me program is held once a month year-round, with Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday sessions available to choose from. Classes run 10:00-11:00 am or 11:15 am -12:15 pm. Ages 3-5. Cost is $12/child with one adult free. Registration includes refuge admission for child and parent.

We will read, do a craft and head out and about on an adventure about the month’s theme. Space is limited to 12 children.  Advanced registration required. *Please note: classes are held outdoors. Please dress for the weather.

Important Info:

  • Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Registration can be made above. Please register each child separately.
  • Parents are required to sign a release form once per school year so we have emergency contact information for all children. The form will be emailed to you after registration or can be completed at your first class.
  • Due to the demand for our classes and numerous last minute cancellations. We require that payment be made at the time of registration. We will be unable to provide refunds or credits for changes in schedules/personal conflicts or other personal reasons. However, in the event of a class cancellation due to inclement weather we will offer all registrants a credit towards the next month’s class or a fee refund.
  • These classes are “adult and me” so an adult is required to stay with the student. Younger siblings who are not enrolled in our program are welcome, but please make sure that they are not being disruptive to the other children. If we find a younger sibling is being disruptive to the class, we may ask you to excuse yourself from our program.
  • Classes will be held outdoors. Only snow closings of the Medford Twp School District will cancel our classes. Please be sure your child is adequately prepared for weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, cold, and heat.

This weekend, February 16-19, 2024, is the Great Backyard Bird Count. Come out to the refuge for a special craft in the Nature Center and complete a bird tally sheet along the trail to help in the count. Winter is the perfect time to go “birding!” Included with the price of admission. No registration needed!

Join us for this fun beginner birding program for children and adults alike. This weekend, February 16-19, 2024, is the Great Backyard Bird Count. Why not celebrate by starting a new hobby or learning more about bird ID? We’ll go over basic ID tips, test out our skills at Cedar Run’s bird feeders and on the trail, and give a tutorial on how to record your data via the E-Bird website. 9:00-10:30am. Suitable for ages 8 and up. $15/non-member adult, $10/non-member child, members free. Pricing includes Refuge admission. Advanced registration required.

Science Rocks! Mini Day-Off

Day off? Get hands-on at Cedar Run! Join us for exciting science experiments, hikes, animal encounters and more!

K-5th grade. Space is limited to 20 children per group. Children should dress for the weather and plan on spending the entire time outdoors. $35/non-member, $30/member. Advanced registration required.

Teen Winter Survival Skills Afternoon

Get ready to learn new outdoor skills and put them to the test as we compete to survive the harsh winter weather for our teen Winter Survival Afternoon! Fires will be lit, shelters will be built – and fun will be had! Dress warm for this fun outdoor afternoon of wilderness skills! 1:00-3:00pm. Suitable for ages 12+*. $20/non-member, $15/member. Fee includes daily Refuge admission for the participant only. Space is limited to 15 children per group. Please register each child separately. Advanced registration required.

*Note: This is an optional drop-off program for children – parents will be emailed a contact form and waiver prior to class.
