This program offers participants the opportunity to hone their photography skills while capturing stunning images of our magnificent birds of prey. From soaring hawks to stealthy owls, Cedar Run’s resident raptors provide the perfect subjects for aspiring photographers to practice their craft.

In addition to capturing stunning images, participants will learn about the natural history, behavior, and conservation of Cedar Run’s resident raptors. Gain a deeper appreciation for these majestic birds as you observe them and learn about the important role they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

The Raptor Photography Session offers a unique blend of education, adventure, and hands-on experience, making it ideal for photographers of all skill levels. Whether you’re looking to expand your portfolio, connect with nature, or simply enjoy a day of outdoor photography, this program promises an enriching and rewarding experience.

Join us and let your passion for photography take flight. Don’t miss this opportunity to capture the majesty of raptors in their and create lasting memories that will inspire and delight for years to come.

*Please note: photography will be self-guided. Our educators will bring select birds out of their enclosures for photographing up-close and personal on perches and in a natural setting and provide information about the species. Participants must bring their own cameras and materials.

You and Me Preschool
Oct 14 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Our You and Me program is held once a month year-round, with Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday sessions available to choose from. Classes run 10:00-11:00 am or 11:15 am -12:15 pm. Ages 3-5. Cost is $10/child with one adult free. Registration includes refuge admission for child and parent. Extra adults must pay regular admission.

We will read, do a craft and head out and about on an adventure about the month’s theme. Space is limited to 12 children.  Advanced registration required. *Please note: classes are held outdoors. Please dress for the weather.

Experience the refuge in an exciting way, at night! Enjoy a guided hike under the darkness of the new moon to visit nocturnal habitats that are home to owls, raccoons, opossums and other wildlife that emerge after dark. Be there as the ‘night shift’ awakens. Program begins at the Nature Center. Hike is approximately 1 mile. 6:30-8:00pm. ADULTS ONLY! $15/person. 20 participants maximum. Drop-off

Drop-offs are available for homeschool classes. Please be punctual, as your child may miss some vital information at the start if they are late, and may also cause a distraction for those who are on time.

All parents are welcome to stay and enjoy our grounds and Nature Center while your child is in class or leave the grounds and return at the end of the session.

You are welcome to attend any and all classes with your children and act as a chaperone. If you choose to attend, we would like to stress the importance of your active participation. We also ask that you turn off all cell phones and other distractions for the duration of the visit.

If you decide to stay and observe your child’s class and your child has a younger sibling that is not enrolled in our program, please make sure that he or she is not being disruptive to the other children. If we find a younger sibling is being disruptive to the class, we may ask you to excuse yourself from our program.

Classes will be held exclusively outdoors, even if weather is inclement. Only snow closings of the Medford Twp School District will cancel our classes. Please be sure your child is adequately prepared for weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, cold, and heat.

TICKETS AVALIBABLE: Cedar Run for Your Life: Haunted Guided Night Hike

Just in time for hoots & spooks of Halloween! Only the bravest will dare to explore Cedar Run after dark on our haunted guided night hikes!
For one night only, join us for an unforgettable evening of spine-tingling adventure as we are guided into the trails of Cedar Run where the legendary Jersey Devil takes the spotlight as the ringmaster of the Leeds Family Circus. 

Sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows & watch a Halloween movie… if you survive…
Geared toward ages 10 and up.
Rain or shine.

Timed Haunted Night Hikes

  • Doors open at 6:00pm, and guided tours will begin at 6:30pm. 
  • The sunset for this evening will be around 6:00pm.
  • Enjoy a cozy campfire  to roast marshmallows & enjoy a Halloween movie while you wait for your hike
  • Guided hikes will run between 20-30 minutes long, and will be a guided walking hike.
  • Recommended to arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled guided hike, and will promptly begin at the scheduled time.
  • Limited space of 16 per timed guided hike. Advanced registration is required.
  • Every participant in the guided hike will need to sign a waiver before participating in the hike. Not recommended for pregnant women or anyone with a heart condition.
  • Flashlights are allowed in our parking lot area, but cannot be used during the experience of guided hike.
  • Dogs and other pets are prohibited, except clearly marked service animals. This is due to the safety of our wildlife animals, for special events and daily visits.

Limited space for each Haunted Guided Hike! Grab your tickets now before they… disappear! Pre- registration ends Friday, October 27th at 5pm.

  • $25 per person.
  • Ticket purchase includes guided hike, 1 marshmallow roasting kit, & 1 hot chocolate. Additional treats available for purchase
  • Children ages 10-15 must be accompanied by an adult during the duration of the guided hike.

Come out on Saturday, November 11th and you will even see a Cedar Run resident from 11am-2pm at the event! Also if you book your appointment for this day you will automatically be entered to win a chance at a wild experience to be present during a wildlife release.
