World Wetlands Day (virtual)
Feb 2 @ 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Join us as we celebrate World Wetlands Day while learning a bit more about human impacts on the water around us. This fun and interactive program is best suited for 4th grade to adults, but younger students are welcome to join as well. This is a free program, but donations to support our work are always welcome!  Sign-up below to receive the Zoom link.

What is World Wetlands Day? World Wetlands Day is celebrated each year on February 2nd to raise awareness about wetlands. This day also marks the anniversary of the Convention on Wetlands, which was adopted as an international treaty in 1971.

Why World Wetlands Day? Nearly 90% of the world’s wetlands have been degraded since the 1700s, and we are losing wetlands three times faster than forests. Yet, wetlands are critically important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation and adaptation, freshwater availability, world economies and more. It is urgent that we raise national and global awareness about wetlands in order to reverse their rapid loss and encourage actions to conserve and restore them. World Wetlands Day is the ideal time to increase people’s understanding of these critically important ecosystems.

This is an optional two-part event, we’d love to see you for a follow-up hike on Sunday, 2/5/23 as well! Click here to learn more.
