You and Me Preschool: Weekend Edition!
Mar 5 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Join us for a fun and engaging program focused on a fun book. “Weekend Edition” will run once a month on the first Saturday of the month.

We will read, do a craft and head out and about on an adventure about the month’s theme. 10-11am. Ages 3-5. $10/child with adult. Space is limited to 12 children.  Advanced registration required. *Please note: classes are held exclusively outdoors. Please dress for the weather.

Saturday Crafternoon

Once a month, we will meet up for a different craft in the afternoon. Find inspiration from nature as we craft the afternoon away! Crafts will be guided by Cedar Run Educators and are awaiting your creative twists. NOON-1:30pm. Ages 10 to adult preferred. 15 participants maximum. $18/Non-Member, $15/Member. Pricing includes Refuge admission. Advanced registration required.

  • March 5th – we’ll make nature mandalas near Cedar Run’s Nature Center using materials gathered on a short walk. After collecting twigs, grass, leaves, pinecones, rocks, and flowers, we’ll and turn them into temporary geometric works of art that celebrate nature. We’ll then make mandalas with pre-gathered and pressed leaves and grasses to take home.
  • April, May and June crafts TBD soon.

Join one our Educators for this weekly leisurely hike of one of the Refuge’s nature trails. Explore the varied habitats from the dry Pitch Pine forest to the moisture-loving Atlantic White Cedars. Learn of the animals that call Cedar Run home. Find out how you can help protect the wonderful wilderness of the New Jersey Pine Barrens! Bring sturdy walking shoes, dress in layers, and bring a water bottle. 2:00 start. Runs approximately 1 hour. Free with the cost of admission. Maximum participants: 15, on a first come first serve basis. Rain cancels the event.

Junior Owl Prowl
Mar 11 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Come out for an Junior Owl Prowl focused on our youngest owl enthusiasts! This program is geared toward children pre-K through 2nd grade (with an adult), but older siblings are welcome to join too. Program begins at the Outdoor Pavilion (with heaters!) for an up-close experience with our resident owls followed by a hike on the trail in search of our local species. Please dress for the weather as the program is exclusively outside. 5:30-7:00pm. $10/person, ages 3 and under free. Advanced registration required. This program will fill up!

Brunch with a Wildlife Rehabilitator

Brunch with a Wildlife Rehabilitator @ Medford | New Jersey | United States

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in a Wildlife Hospital? Are you curious about what goes into the process of rehabilitating injured and/or orphaned wild animals? Now is your chance to go behind-the-scenes and find out! Join one of our state licensed wildlife rehabilitators for brunch (bagels, doughnuts, coffee and tea) followed by an in-depth discussion and tour of our Wildlife Hospital and outdoor rehabilitation enclosures. These facilities are not open to the general public – this is a rare opportunity to tour them with a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Pricing is $50 per person. This experience is geared for ages 15 and up only. Face masks are required for the duration of the program except when eating.

Family Nature Club Meet-up
Mar 13 @ 11:00 am

Come out to the Refuge the second Sunday of each month for our Family Nature Club Meet-up. Each month we’ll have a different self-guided seasonal activity for families to complete on their own or with other Nature Club families. Stop in the Nature Center to pick-up the day’s material kit then head out to our Nature Playscape to join other families or right out onto the trail with your own group. 11am start for meet-up (or arrive between 10am-noon to adventure on your own). Advanced registration is not required, but kit availability is limited to 10 families. $5/per kit. Family Nature Club kits do not include Refuge admission.

Nature play is playing WITH nature, not just IN nature, and is a great way to interact with nature no matter your experience level or play style. Run, climb, build, dig, or even just sit and experience the sounds, smells, and sights of the outdoors.

Bluebirds of Spring (Members Only)

Eager for spring? Bluebirds will be returning to our area soon, but in some areas they may have trouble finding homes. Learn about how to help bluebirds and build a nest box to take home. Prior to building, our Educators will discuss information regarding the natural history and habitat needs of the Eastern Bluebird. Information and tips needed for installing and maintaining a successful bluebird nest box to encourage bluebirds to your property will also be covered.

1:30-3pm. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Box kits are $35 each (for up to 5 participants). Fees do not include Refuge admission. Space is limited to 10 families. Advanced registration is required.
