Weekly Bird Walk
Oct 8 @ 7:00 am – 8:15 am

Join us for weekly bird walks on the property of Cedar Run! Meet in the parking lot in front of the Nature Center, where we will walk around the Cedar Run property to look and listen for birds throughout the different Pine Barrens Ecosystems! The walk covers between 1 to 2 miles with occasional standing to observe. Waterproof shoes are recommended. Please bring your binoculars if you have them, if not we do have a limited number available to rent.

7:00-8:15am. Suitable for ages 10 and up. $5/non-member, members free. Binoculars for rent are first come, first served ($3 for non-members, members free). Advance registration required. Registration ends Sundays at 5pm. Rain cancels the event.

You and Me Preschool

Our You and Me program is held once a month year-round, with Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday sessions available to choose from. Classes run 10:00-11:00 am or 11:15 am -12:15 pm. Ages 3-5. Cost is $12/child with one adult free. Registration includes refuge admission for child and parent.

We will read, do a craft and head out and about on an adventure about the month’s theme. Space is limited to 12 children.  Advanced registration required. *Please note: classes are held outdoors. Please dress for the weather.

  • Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Registration can be made below. Multiple children can be registered together.
  • Parents are required to sign a release form once per school year so we have emergency contact information for all children. The form will be emailed to you after registration or can be completed at your first class.
  • Due to the demand for our classes and numerous last minute cancellations. We require that payment be made at the time of registration. We will be unable to provide refunds or credits for changes in schedules/personal conflicts or other personal reasons. However, in the event of a class cancellation due to inclement weather we will offer all registrants a credit towards the next month’s class or a fee refund.
  • These classes are “adult and me” so an adult is required to stay with the student. Younger siblings who are not enrolled in our program are welcome, but please make sure that they are not being disruptive to the other children. If we find a younger sibling is being disruptive to the class, we may ask you to excuse yourself from our program.
  • Classes will be held outdoors. Only snow closings of the Medford Twp School District will cancel our classes. Please be sure your child is adequately prepared for weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, cold, and heat.

Join us for an enchanting exploration of avian wonders during our “Magic of Migration” event at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge! In celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, this immersive program invites bird enthusiasts of all ages to delve into the incredible journeys undertaken by migratory birds around the globe.

Highlights of the Program – 

  1. Interactive Presentation:
    • Learn about the science and significance of bird migration. Discover the extraordinary navigational skills that guide species across continents and hear stories of their amazing journeys.
  2. Live Bird Demonstration:
    • Get up close with a Wildlife Ambassador.

Super Moon Night Hike – Adults Only!

Prepare to be spellbound as you explore Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge under the enchanting glow of a Super Moon! Join us for a guided Night Hike through the refuge, where you’ll witness the magic of the nocturnal world come to life.

Under the cover of darkness, we’ll venture into the mysterious habitats of creatures that thrive after sunset. From the elusive owls and nimble raccoons to the curious opossums, you’ll have the privilege of observing the “night shift” as they awaken and engage in their nightly activities.

Led by our educators, this approximately 1-mile hike will lead you through the refuge’s moonlit trails, offering captivating insights into the lives of the nocturnal animals that call Cedar Run home. Learn fascinating facts about their behaviors and adaptations for life in the dark as you traverse the tranquil forest under the luminous glow of the Super Moon.

Whether you’re a dedicated nature enthusiast or simply curious about the mysteries of the night, our Super Moon Night Hike promises an unforgettable experience. Reserve your spot today and prepare to be captivated by the magic of Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge under the light of the Super Moon.

This program begins at 6:30pm and runs 1hr+ depending on our findings, not to exceed 90 minutes. This session is adults only. $15/adult. 20 participants maximum. Advanced registration required.

Owl-O-Ween Fun at Cedar Run

No tricks here! Dress up in your Halloween costumes & enjoy an afternoon trick-or-treating at our wildlife enclosures, along with a Halloween movie, costume contest, games, crafts, food & more! It is going to be a hoot! Great for children ages 3 & up!

Cedar Run will be closed to the public for general admissions on Saturday, 10/19 at 1pm to get ready for Owl-O-Ween.

Doors open at 4:00pm
