WINTER/SPRING 2010
Wonderful Wildlife Weekends

Visit Woodford Cedar Run’s Pine Barrens Education Center for mini-exhibits and special programs with a monthly theme. Live animals, themed crafts, puzzles and artifacts highlight the topic. Explore the nature trail surrounding beautiful Cedar Run Lake and visit the Refuge’s wildlife residents along the way.

Saturdays 10 am - 4 pm ~ Sundays 1 pm - 4 pm (weekdays 10 am to 4 pm).

Included in Refuge admission: $5 adults, $3 children, three & under and members free. No reservations needed.

ECOCLUB! STEWARDS OF THE REFUGE!
Meets every 2nd Saturday morning from 10:00-12:00 at the education center.
Ages 11-16

Members will be taken into the Refuge one day a month to learn about the plants, animals, and features of the Pine Barrens. There will be dues for club membership paid on either a monthly or annual basis ($5.00/Month or $45.00/Year). Membership will include access to a biological database they will be building, nature activites and/or crafts, and Eco-Club T-shirt, and e-newsletter.

Time with our Naturalists

Birding Basics
February 21st

Join our naturalist to learn some of the basic skills of birding. We will discuss field marking and silhouettes. You will hear some of the common bird calls and discover who they belong to. You will also get to test your skills on our nature trail.

Spring Sprouts
March 21st

As spring arrives, so do the sprouts of our awakening plants. Hike the trails with our naturalist and discover which plants emerge first.

Butterflies, Beetles, and Other Bugs

Join our naturalist to discover the buggy world of the pines. We will explore a wetlands area in search of dragonflies, investigate a rotten log for some beetles, and sweep the uplands in search of butterflies.

Amphibians of the Pines
June 20th

Frogs, toads and salamanders oh my! Join our naturalist and discover the diversity of amphibians found in the Pine Barrens.

NIGHT HIKES

Cost: $10.00 per adult / $5.00 children ages 11-16.

Twilight Birding

Saturday, May 8th
7:30 pm

In the evening hours we see the diurnal birds settling in for the night while the nocturnal ones begin to wake up. Join our naturalist and explore our trails in the twilight hour in search of our feathered friends.

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge are 2 hours long (scheduled from 10AM-12PM or 1PM-3PM). Parties include a live animal talk with our reptiles, and then your choice of either

A- a nature hike, crafts, and games or
B- a guided hike to our Wildlife Housing Area and a visit with our non-releasable resident wildlife.

Costs for members are $9/child guest with a minimum of $90.00; non-members are $10/child guest with a minimum of $100.00, Adults and birthday child are free.

Save the Date: Serenade for Wildlife, March 21, 2010

Coming up in 2010, for the 15th consecutive year, Bill and Nancy Stokking, along with some of their friends and students, will give a classical music concert for benefit of the Refuge.
