Advanced reservations are required for all groups.

Two to four classes may be scheduled on same day. School purchase orders are accepted.

Payment in full is due upon arrival. Fees are listed under each program title.

Survival Could you survive in the wild? Are your needs the same as other animals? Take a hike, learn how to construct a fire, build a debris hut, and discover other skills to survive in the forest. Campfire included - weather permitting.

Duration: 2-1/2 hours Cost: $8.00 per student with a minimum of $120.00
Recommended for grades: 3 - 6

Tails & Trails Meet the animals that reside at Cedar Run. Compare characteristics of our mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Become
Trail a nature detective on our Pine Barrens trail and explore the habitats of these animals. Choose one of the following themes or ask for one to go along with your own curriculum: habitats, camouflage, food chains, or animal tracks.


Duration: 2 hours Cost: $5.00 per student with a minimum of $75.00
Recommended for grades: pre-K & up

Pine Nature of the Pines Make your nature programs come alive for your students when you bring them to Cedar Run. Examine the difference between uplands and wetlands and discover the Pinelands plants and animals that live here. Play environmental learning games while focusing on any two of the following topics: habitats, adaptations for survival, camouflage, food chains, animal tracks, or plant identification. Let us know if there is something else that you would like to cover.

Duration: 3-1/2 hours Cost: $7.00 per student with a minimum of $105.00
Recommended for grades: 2 - 12
Wild about Water Come outdoors for a hands-on science lesson. Experiment with our watershed model, play some water-use games, and then hit the trail to discover our wetlands, complete with man-eating plants. Wrap up the experience by Water examining the macroinvertebrates that define wetland health.

Duration: 3-1/2 hours Cost: $8.00 per student with a minimum of $120.00

Scout It Out Meet Scout badge requirements as you explore the trails of Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge with one of our naturalists leading the way. You'll also meet our resident wildlife. Or try the Survival program. Call for more information.
Wildlife a la Carte Design your own Refuge Adventure to illustrate a specific wildlife or environmental topic. Give us a call to discuss your needs. Duration and cost will be based on those of our regular programs.

When your students "adopt" one of our wildlife species, they'll be providing a year's worth of food and care. In return, your class will receive:

· Certificate complete with color photo of the animal
· Profiles fact sheet about the species
· Spotlight page that tells an individual animal's story

If your school can't come to the Refuge, our Refuge on Wheels program can come to you! We have trained wildlife experts that can come to your classroom or event with a variety of native Pine Barrens wildlife for a hands on presentation, including:

reptile Raptors & Reptiles Live birds of prey, snakes and turtles visit your school for this exciting program guaranteed to delight your students. Observe each species' unique characteristics and use artifacts to see and understand the animals' adaptations for survival. Learn about their habitats, food chains, and how you can help protect these amazing animals.

Duration: 45 minutes - 1 hour Cost: $250.00 for the first show; $225.00 for the second show the same day
Recommended for grades: 1 - 12
Hunters Hunters of the Sky Bring live hawks and owls to your school for a dramatic presentation. Students become part of the program to highlight the animals' amazing adaptations while learning why we need to protect and conserve their habitats.

Duration: 1 hour Cost: $250.00 for the first show; $225.00 for the second show at same site, same day
Recommended for grades: 2 - 12
Water, Water Everywhere! Water Where does your water come from? Is there enough to go around? Enjoy an interactive science lesson using an Enviroscape® - every student gets to participate. We even bring a surprise guest from the Refuge.

Duration: 45 minutes Cost: $100.00 for the first show; $85.00 for the second show the same day
Recommended for grades: 4 - 12
Endangered! Students learn what it means for animals to be threatened and endangered, laying the groundwork for understanding pollution and conservation. We will discuss extinction and the causes of endangerment, and challenge the children to become involved by suggesting ways they can make a difference by recycling, reducing and reusing. Students will also meet three live animals listed as NJ endangered species, and learn how and why we protect them.

Duration: 45 minutes - 1 hour Cost: $250.00 for the first program; $225.00 for a second program at the same site on the same day

Winged Winged Wonders This lively program, geared for the younger set, teaches the characteristics of our bird friends while introducing the children to two of our educational raptors.

Duration: 1/2 hour Cost: $130.00 for the first show; $105.00 for the second show the same day

Owl Stories Owls Young students are fascinated by the songs and stories that teach them about these nocturnal creatures, but are truly amazed when they meet a real owl.

Recommended for grades: pre-K - K
Seasonal Selections Younger children will delight in seasonal stories of wondrous animals. For spring, consider 'Over in the Meadow' and learn about different animals and insects that live in the grasses, ponds and nearby trees in the meadow. For winter, 'Where Did the Animals Go?' teaches how various animals get through the cold weather. They even get to meet a live animal!
