Our volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the organization! Join us to learn valuable skills while helping us to accomplish our mission.
Volunteer opportunities at the refuge include:
helping to care for the wildlife
helping with educational programs
greeting visitors at our Nature Center
staffing at festival special events
building & repairing animal enclosures
general office work
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and attend a "Volunteer Information Session." Volunteer Information Sessions are typically held just before the arrival of our wildlife babies in January, February and March. Dates for 2019 are Saturday, 1/19, 2/16, and 3/2/2019 at 2:00 PM.
**NOTE: Volunteers will be asked to pay a one-time non-refundable application fee. Volunteers UNDER 18 will be asked to pay $20 this fee supports staff time and resources associated with processing and training. Please note: Submission of a volunteer application and application fee does not guarantee a volunteer position at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.
Volunteers 18 AND OVER will be asked to pay $35, this fee covers the cost of a criminal background check and supports staff time and resources associated with training and processing. This is a criminal history only check, not a credit check. Our insurance mandates this check because we have groups of children on the premises year round. Please note: Submission of a volunteer application and application fee does not guarantee a volunteer position at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.

Please DO NOT call about volunteer opportunities. Our coordinator also works in the hospital and is usually caring for our wildlife!
Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge does not host police or court ordered community service hours. We do appreciate all types of service, but our status as an education facility prohibits our organization from hosting police or court ordered community service. For more information click here.
To discuss service projects, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Mike O'Malley.
