Have a Wild Birthday!
Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is a great venue for your youth AND adult birthday parties. Adult parties are based on your interest but typically include a guided tour of the animals and an up close and personal meet and greet with some of our raptors and/or reptiles. Adult party prices are program dependent.
Youth birthday parties at the refuge are 2 hours long and are scheduled from 10AM-12PM or 1PM-3PM on weekends and on weekdays by special arrangement. Night hike times are dependent on the season.
Youth Parties include: A themed program delivered by our staff, use of our party room or outdoor pavilion for the full 2 hours (30 minutes is reserved for food) and a Cedar Run t-shirt for the birthday child. You MUST provide your own decorations, paper goods, etc.
Please note: No balloons or confetti allowed.
Member rate is $200 for up to 10 guests. Non-member price is $275 for up to 10 guests and includes a 1-year family membership to Cedar Run (a $75 value). Each additional child is $7. The birthday child and birthday parents are free. For every child, one adult is free--additional adults $3 each. There is a $30 additional fee for "Night Hike" party fires.
A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at booking- cash, check, and charge are accepted. The deposit fee is subtracted from the final payment. Final payment is due at the event.
Bugs & Butterflies (seasonal)-We will begin with a story before learning all about the many bugs and butterflies in our own backyards. Then we will grab our nets and head out in search of these creatures in the forest and finish up with a bug craft to take home.
Scavenger Hunt- Guests will begin with a tour of the trail and the wildlife housing area. Then each group will head out for a fun-filled scavenger hunt. With one adult per group, guests will seek
out specific items and photograph them. Who will find all of the items first? (One adult required per 5 children; bring your own cameras/cell phones please.)
NEW! Geocaching (ages 8 & up)- Explore the forest of Cedar Run in search of hidden treasure using GPS units. Can you find it all? Learn more about this exciting world-wide 21st century scavenger hunt and then end with a tour of our animals housing area.
Fairy Party- What's more fun than make believe? Guests can arrive dressed as a fairy, gnome, or other make believe creature. Guests will make their own fairy house using natural materials and explore the refuge looking for other houses hidden along the trail!
Frog Party (seasonal)- This program will have you hopping! Guests will learn all about the fabulous 4-legged amphibians found around us. We will dress as a frog, go on a frog hunt (weather permitting) and practice making our best frog sounds!
Letterbox Treasure Hunt- Follow the clues to search for hidden treasure along the trail and discover other cool things found in nature. Before heading outside, each guest will make their own stamp to use as they uncover each letterbox location.
Night Hike (ages 8 & up please)- Ever wonder what animals do at night? Guests will see a whole new side to the animals and learn the different ways they survive at night. We will hike the trail listening for sounds of the night, visit our wildlife housing area and finish with s’mores around the campfire (we provide the s’mores). $30 additional charge for campfire.
Owl Experience- Whooo doesn't love owls? Guests will have a blast learning about these mysterious nocturnal animals. We will meet an owl up-close and personal, dissect owl pellets and visit our wildlife housing area to meet some of the other owls that call Cedar Run their home.
Owl Stories (ages 3-5)- Guests will have a hoot during our most popular program for the little ones! We begin with an imaginary owl hunt, an owl story and a visit with one of our resident owls. The fun continues with an owl craft and visit to the wildlife housing area to see more owls.
Snakes and Turtles- This program is for anyone who loves all that is scaly! Guests will get up-close with our resident reptiles, view a feeding and go on a turtle hunt (weather permitting). Younger guests will take home a fun craft.
Survival (ages 8 & up)- Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild? Guests will learn some cool and creative ways animals survive in the wild before embarking on a hike to build a shelter and discover other skills you would need to survive alone in the forest.
Wildlife Rehab Party- What would you do if you found an injured animal? Children
will role-play to act out different wildlife scenarios to learn more about
wildlife rehab in a fun and interactive way. Afterwards, we will visit our wildlife housing area for a closer look at some of our resident animals.
