Adventures at the Refuge/Groups

Bring your group to explore Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Our educators will help you get the most from the experience. 

Programs are suitable for all age groups, and can be adapted to meet your group’s needs. 

"Nature of the Pines" programs (recommended for 2nd grade and up)
• $9/student or 15 student/$135 minimum
• 3 1/2 hours
• A hike through Pinelands habitat
• A topic-specific presentation, including up-close animal encounters and artifacts
• A guided tour of the wildlife housing area
• 1/2 hour for brown-bag lunch in our covered pavilion
 
"Tails and Trails" programs (recommended for PreK - 5th grades)
• $7/student or 15 student/$105 minimum
• 2 hours
• A brief hike
• A guided tour of the wildlife housing area
• 2 1/2 hour program includes 30 minutes for a picnic lunch
 
Topics:
Bald Eagle OrionHealthy Habitats (PK-12th)
Students will become more connected to the human impact on the environment with this program that discusses Leave No Trace, toxic spills, pesticide use, and more.
 
 

Box Turtle TommyReptiles and Amphibians (PK-12th)
Students will get an up close and personal look at the scaly and slimy creatures hiding under our feet.

 

Fungus Log
Exploring Microhabitats (3rd-12th)
Students will focus on a world of wonder packed into the tiny spaces that 
surround them. We’ll investigate logs and cracks and crevices to discover a world teeming with life.


Survival ShelterSurvival (3rd-12th)
Take a hike, build a basic shelter and discover other skills needed to survive in the forest.
 



Cedar Run LakeMacroinvertebrate Study (4th-12th) 
Students will investigate the components of an unhealthy lake and a healthy one through hands-on lessons where they will catch and identify live macros from our lake.


 
*Deposit: For all group programs, a non-refundable deposit of $50.00 is required to secure the date. The balance is due on the day of the program unless prior arrangements have been made with the Director of Education.
 
Cancellation/Postponement Policy: If a program is cancelled by the Refuge due to extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances and a mutually agreed upon postponement date cannot be found, all fees will be refunded.
