Adventures at the Refuge/Groups

Bring your group to explore Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Our educators will help you get the most from the experience. 

Programs are suitable for all age groups, and can be adapted to meet your group’s needs. 

  • 3 1/2 hour programs are $9 per student or $135 minimum
  • 2 hour programs are $7 per student or $105 minimum  
  • Staff are free for all programs. Additional adult chaperones are the student price.
"Nature of the Pines" programs (recommended for 2nd grade and up)
• $9/student
• 3 1/2 hours
• Hands-on activities and age-appropriate lessons
• A hike through Pinelands habitat with stations along the trail
• A topic-specific presentation, including animals and artifacts
• A guided tour of the wildlife housing area
• 1/2 hour for brown-bag lunch in our covered pavilion
 
"Tails and Trails" programs (recommended for PreK - 5th grades)
• $7/student
• 2 hours
• Hands-on activities and age-appropriate lessons
• A brief hike
• A guided tour of the wildlife housing area
• 2 1/2 hour program includes 30 minutes for a picnic lunch
 
Preschool and kindergarten groups may couple Owl Stories, Winged Wonders, or one of our small group programs from Refuge on Wheels with a guided tour of our Wildlife Housing Area for a engaging 75-minute program.

Topics:
Bald Eagle OrionHealthy Habitats (PK-12th)
Students will become more connected to the human impact on the environment with this program that discusses Leave No Trace, toxic spills, pesticide use, and more.
 
 

Box Turtle TommyReptiles and Amphibians (PK-12th)
Students will get an up close and personal look the scaly and slimy creatures hat hide right under our feet..

 

Fungus Log
Exploring Microhabitats (3rd-12th)
Students will focus on a world of wonder packed into the tiny spaces that 
surround them. We’ll investigate logs and cracks and crevices to discover a world teeming with life.


Survival ShelterSurvival (3rd-12th)
Take a hike, learn how to construct a fire, build a debris hut, and discover other skills needed to survive in the forest.
 

**Other topics such as food chains, camouflage, habitats, etc are available.**
 
 
*Deposit: For all group programs, a non-refundable deposit of $50.00 is required to secure the date. The balance is due on the day of the program unless prior arrangements have been made with the Director of Education.
 
Cancellation/Postponement Policy: If a program is cancelled by the Refuge due to extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances and a mutually agreed upon postponement date cannot be found, all fees will be refunded.
